Warsaw Community Development Corporation (WCDC) successfully held the first Downtown Clean Up day on Saturday, May 14th, despite the frigid temperature and rain. During the event, Clear Image donated both time and equipment to wash the windows of vacant storefronts. Twenty-one volunteers gathered to sweep the sidewalks and alleys in preparation for the downtown summer attractions. The City of Warsaw does a tremendous job cleaning the streets, alleys and sidewalks, and therefore, the voluntary cleaning crews completed their assignments earlier than expected.
Kosciusko County Tobacco-Free Coalition educated volunteers about toxins and the importance of not littering. Volunteers were then divided into teams where they collected 2,530 cigarette butts from the streets, alleys, sidewalks, and parking lots. Thank you to everyone who volunteered during the event!
